AUKUS, Quad made to Contain China: Russian Defense Minister says at Indian Soil

In the recent Defence Minister’s conference under Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Russia has categorically lamented US and it’s multilateral alliances like Quad, AUKUS as moves to limit Chinese growing influence.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei K Shoigu, who attended the meet, said that US and its allies are actively involved in the disturbances, and the formation of Quad, AUKUS as likely to be the sub-sections of NATO, are made to disturb the multipolar arrangements in Asia-Pacific.

Free and open Indo-Pacific is the concept that is being promoted to contain China. He terms the US allies as “Enablers” are pursuing its strategic agenda to augment military standoff with Russia and China. He also regarded the Ukrainian conflict is the outcome of United States’ criminal policy because, US aims at prolonging its hegemony by defeating Russia and threating China.

Russia has openly supported China on Indian soil. It might not go well because India is already concerned Sino-Russian Strategic Partnership because of its confrontation with China on border issues. India also have tried to realize the world that unlike AUKUS, Quad which includes, US, India, Japan and Australia is not security pact. However, AUKUS (Australia, US and UK) is a clear-cut security pact under which Australia will acquire nuclear-powered submarines.

Furthermore, Indian Minister has also said in its bilateral meeting with Russian Defence Minister that Russia and India are time-tested friends. These ties could not be affected by any of the external factors.
