(Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdul Rehman Al Thani's Call for Peace and Humanity)
Sheikh Mohammed
Bin Abdul Rehman Al Thani, The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, spoke
at the occasion of visit of US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
The Sheikh has
pulled no punches in addressing the humanitarian, political and security crisis.
He's talked about the troubles hitting civilians, women, and children.
He stated, “We
discussed the Humanitarian Political Complications of this situation, we have
recorded the hitting and targeting the civilians including women and children, and
the collective punishment that is not acceptable in any circumstances, these
condemnation must go anyone who is involved in these matters.”
The Qatar wants
a ceasefire, plain and simple. It wants to stop the bloodshed, break that
vicious circle of violence, and make sure the people in the region don't pay
the price.
As he stated, “We
need to work in order to reach a ceasefire, to stop the bloodshed, and to avoid
the circle of violence, that the people of region will pay the price”.
Furthermore, “The
priorities of the Qatar is to seek a ceasefire, protect the civilians, release
the captives, and to work hard in order not to spread violence in the region
because this will have a bad consequences.”
It's all about
protecting civilians, releasing captives, and, most importantly, avoiding the
spread of violence. Because, that leads to some bad consequences, and nobody
wants that.
According to
him, “We have also sent our point of view to humanitarian corridors to keep the
assistances and aid reaching the Palestinians particularly to the Gaza Strip.”
And let's not
forget about the Gaza Strip, folks. There's a real disaster going on there.
They're running low on basic needs, and there's no electricity thanks to all
the bombardment. It's a tough situation, no doubt. But Sheikh Mohammed is
calling for everyone to roll up their sleeves, join forces with allies and
partners, especially our friends in the United States of America, and get
things sorted out.
“There is a disaster
that we see in the Gaza Strip, and shortage of basic needs and no electricity
because of the bombardment and all understand the situation is very tough, and
all have to exert all possible efforts, with alliance and partners particularly
the United States of America in order to overcome the situation, and to
decrease the more causalities of the civilians.” He stated.
Now, to reach a
peaceful solution, Qatar calls to open all the channels with partners and
concerned parties through cooperation. It's all about working together. The
Sheikh also tips his hat to the regional and international cooperation
happening right now.
“To reach at a
peaceful solution will require to open all the channels with our partners and
concerned parties through cooperation. We also appreciate the regional and
international cooperation being made to this current situation.” He added.
Qatar is all
about mediation and dialogue. It's part of their foreign policy, and they're
standing shoulder to shoulder with their partners to bring peace to the table.
That's some serious commitment.
As he said, “Qatar
deeply believes that mediation and dialogue are very important and this is also
part of our foreign policy. Qatar stands at great position with partners in
order to bring peace and it is also committed to be a part of peace process.”
The
international community is getting a nudge here, a gentle reminder that they
need to be part of the peace process, especially concerning Palestine. The Arab
States got the ball rolling, and Sheikh Mohammed says Palestine needs to get
their legitimate rights. It's like a call to arms for justice.
At the end, he
said “International community is urged to be fairly part of the peace process
in context of Palestine as started by the Arab States. Palestine must get their
legitimate right.”
