Minister Sheikh Hasina and Russia President Vladmir Putin.

controversy. According to him, “Bangladesh inaugurates its first nuclear power plant
in a virtual ceremony attended by both the leaders of Russia and Bangladesh. Putin

Vladmir
Putin has said, “Bangladesh is our tested ally and partner. Our relationship is
built with the mutual respect, equality and benefits.”
Chantry
stated that, project comes with many challenges as Bangladesh has been
struggling to cope with inflation, power-cuts and rising energy issues. Because
they are boring more than $4 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
while the Fund officials are raising questions about its foreign currency
reserves, its loans and high inflation.
He
further stated that nuclear power is taken by some corners as a potential way-out.
More than $12 Billion projects come with geopolitical toll as well as financial
challenge but this is a flagship project. European sanctions are also barring
due to embargoes on Russia.
Bangladesh
is reported to have used Chinese Yuan for this purpose. According to native
expert, geopolitical toll here is essentially currency and payment to Russian
sources. So, alternate currency will also be a major geopolitical game play for
the government in due course of time. Therefore, the government has to be very
careful
According
to another source, Tanvir Chaudhary, first consignment of Uranium arrived in
Dhaka by special Russian air cargo plane. The same day it was moved carefully
to the site of nuclear power plant located at 200 km West of Dhaka by road
under heavy security.
High
cost of the plant, delayed construction and especially public safety are major
concern that has grown among the public in Bangladesh.
