The warring factions in Sudan has extended the humanitarian cease-fire for more 72 hours due to international pressure to provide safe passage for civilian’s evacuation.
Although it’s not a complete ceasefire,
both of the parties are accusing each other of violation. Skirmishes are continued
in some areas but there is room for civilians to evacuate the sights.
The UN’s humanitarian chief
Martin Griffith expressed in statement that the crisis in Sudan was at “a
breaking point,” and “the scale and speed of what is unfolding in Sudan
is unprecedented.”
According to him, food and water
scarcely reducing in the country, especially in the capital, Khartoum. Death may
increase due to lack of basic medical means. In addition, massive looting of
the aid supplies has aggravated the already dismal situation.
International Committee of the
Red Cross has reported, after sending an aircraft carrying eight tons of
emergency medical aid, that the supply in the hospitals is devastated by the
war, while many hospitals are in the warring areas became already out of service
due to shortage of supplies, health workers, water and power cut. It also
warned that the death toll reached above 400 and the humanitarian situation was
getting more dangerous.
According to the statistics
provided by Sudan Doctors’ Syndicate, which monitors casualties, 425 civilians
were killed and 2,091 wounded from the past two weeks while the overall rate is
higher than this.
The report by various media
outlets, claimed that number of Foreigners mainly from US, Britain, Russia,
China, Gulf states, Pakistan and India have been evacuated while tens of
thousands of Sudanese have fled to the neighbouring countries. The remaining
