Syrian President
Bashar Al-Assad was invited by Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz to attend
coming Arab League summit on May, 19. The announcement came after Foreign Ministers
of Arab League it their meeting decided to re-admit Syria again in the League. The
development reported by Syrian state media.
The media also
quoted the response of Assad saying that the summit will expand sphere of
action to meet the demands the people reside in Arab League’s member countries.
The invitation was
given by Saudi ambassador to Jordan, Nayef Bin Al Bandar Al-Sudairi, Saudi SPA
news told.
The ambassador also
conveyed the best wishes for the security and stability of Syrian people on
behalf of the Saudi King and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman. SPA added.
After the Syrian
readmission in the League, Riyadh and Damascus also welcomed the move and
decided to resume work of their diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia and Syria.
The relations
between the two countries were suspended by Riyadh in the wake Syrian civil war.
Other Gulf countries also cut off their ties with Syria.
The decade long
tensions in the Gulf started getting towards normalcy with a fast pace after
China brokered a diplomatic ties between Riyadh and Tehran.
